Backup and recovery

Before you create an Oracle database, decide how to protect the database against potential media failures. If there is no backup and recovery strategy in place you may not be able to perform critical recovery if a disk failure damages the datafiles, online redo log files, or control files. Backup and recovery is one of the most important aspects of a DBA’s job. Hardware and software can always be replaced, but your data may be irreplaceable!
